Facebook has officially announced a new way of shopping on its platforms. Facebook Shops gets to WhatsApp and Marketplace. In-store ads should help merchants as well as shoppers.

People shop more online

The way people shop has changed dramatically in recent years. Everything is moved to the online space. The store has been a part of Facebook for many years. Brands can pay to advertise their products on the platform, which brings them closer to potential customers.

The thinking of customers changed significantly, especially during the pandemic, when they shopped much more often in the online space. They had little choice. Surveys say one in three shoppers around the world say they plan to spend less time in stores after the pandemic.

Facebook currently records 300 million store visitors per month, and currently has 1.2 million active stores on the platform. Soon, stores will also appear in the WhatsApp application and in the Marketplace on Facebook. Of course, it will start in the USA, when the news will reach Slovakia, we don’t know yet.

Facebook: Augmented reality and new possibilities

In the coming months, some extra functions will be added. For example, it will be a review of stores and goods on Instagram, so that customers get a better overview and can make easier decisions.

The company also invests considerable money in augmented reality, with which it has big plans for the future. New tools on Instagram are designed to help shoppers find the products they are looking for, using augmented reality. Subsequently, for example, they can visualize their clothes and find out what they will look like.
