Elon Musk sees light at the end of the tunnel

If you want to drive a Tesla, you first have to be able to afford it. The prices of popular e-cars have skyrocketed several times recently. Tesla boss Elon Musk can, however, foresee that the tide is likely to turn soon.

Tesla boss gives customers hope

The prices for e-cars are on the rise – not only, but also at Tesla. In the current year alone it was possible for several models a few steps up the price ladder. The actually cheapest electric car from the US manufacturer, Model 3, became 7,000 euros more expensive in one fell swoop. Prices have also risen for the Model Y, which is now being built near Berlin.

But Elon Musk is now encouraging that the price increases could soon come to an end:

“Inflation could trend downwards” that’s what it says in a recent tweet from the Tesla boss. The reason for this assessment is said to be the price development on the raw materials market (source: n-tv). The prices of many of the raw materials required for Tesla’s electric cars are now said to be falling.

A look at the commodity markets does not provide a complete picture of the situation. But Musk’s assessment is not out of thin air either. That the Prices for Teslas will now fall accordingly, but this is by no means certain.

On the one hand, Musk does not intend to make any concrete price adjustments. He writes rather of the general inflation, which, like in Germany, is also at a record high for decades in the USA. It remains to be seen whether Tesla will pass on the falling production costs to customers in the future.

In addition, Musk looks primarily at inflation in the United States in his observations. However, the energy price crisis, which many German consumers are currently fearing, is having less of an impact on the United States. It is therefore not clear whether the production costs for the Model Y built in Germany will also fall.

Tesla is different from many automakers. This is also shown by our fun facts:

Still, Musk’s observation may differ have a good impact on the electric car market. After all, the purchase of raw materials and components has recently become more expensive, and not just for Tesla. Other manufacturers could also benefit from falling raw material prices – and ultimately we customers too.
