Elon Musk forms a special unit to fire critical employees

Many former Twitter employees are now suggesting that Elon Musk will fire employees who dare to criticize him. So far, up to 20 people have apparently lost their jobs due to messages within the messenger Slack.

Fire employees until there is no one left at the end? That seems to be Elon Musk’s strategy at the moment. After the billionaire took over Twitter, he initially laid off half of the workforce. Subsequently, around 5,000 temporary workers and freelancers also had to leave the company.

But the layoffs never end. Then numerous tweets from former employees now indicate that Musk also fires people who dare to criticize him.

Elon Musk fires with immediate effect

Elon Musk recently revealed that he hates being criticized in public when he fired Twitter developer Eric Frohnhoefer. He contradicted Musk in a tweet and then lost his job.

Now the new Twitter CEO has apparently fired even more people because they publicly complained about him. For example, software engineer Sasha Solomon had to vacate her desk after she criticized her boss in a series of since-deleted posts on Twitter.

Ex-engineers say “kiss my ass” to Elon Musk

She was fired for “shitposting,” Solomon wrote on Twitter. “Kiss my ass elon,” she added to hers afterwards post added. Another ex-Twitter employee joins that. He was also fired for “shit postings”.

Ex-tweep Nick Morgan also released an excerpt of the dismissal emailthat those affected received. “Your recent behavior has violated company policy,” the reason for the immediate termination is stated there.

Elon Musk controls Slack accounts

Some employees also suspect that it wasn’t their Twitter posts that led to the surprising dismissal. Morgan, for example, assumes that Musk will also use the private Slack account of the company controlled.

My Twitter account was protected at the time, so I can only assume it was because I wasn’t showing 100 percent loyalty in Slack. I have heard that the same has happened to many others now.

About ten other employees would have experienced a similar scenario, writes Gergely Orosz. Casey Newton from The Platformer in turn, it is assumed that around 20 people lost their jobs because of posts on Slack. Anonymous employees reported at least a dozen employees being fired after criticizing Musk on various platforms.

The articles correspond to a report by New York Times. It says that Musk has deployed a special unit to find and report critical employees. The team therefore checks Slack channels and tweets.

Twitter: Takeover chaos never ends

There has been no official statement from Twitter about the recent layoffs. However, Elon Musk reports personally on twitter to word. “I want to apologize for firing these geniuses. Her immense talent will no doubt be of great use elsewhere.”

“It will become a wave of mass disobedience with Twitter engineers drowning in fireworks of glory,” writes Twitter user Dare Obasanjo in one contribution, in which he also posts screenshots of Solomon’s tweet. “Every time I think this acquisition can’t get any worse, it will.”
