In the best-case scenario, customers can buy the new Pio small power generator from Elaris for 5,490 euros. For this, however, funding must be combined. Everyone can get it for 9,490 euros.

The German startup Elaris sells Chinese electric cars under its own name and with Western branding. Now the Rhineland-Palatinate company is expanding its portfolio with the Pio model. The first batch of the small car from the manufacturer Zhidou was also sold under this name in this country. The renaming to Pio is accompanied by some changes in equipment.

Price on par with a well-equipped scooter

However, the real hit about the micro-electric is its price. Without any discounts, the e-mini car costs 18,410 euros. After deducting the “environmental bonus” financed by the federal government and the manufacturer, a price of 9,490 euros remains. Customers from the health and social sector can then lower this price by another 4,000 euros to 5,490 euros via the fleet exchange program “Sozial & Mobil” of the Federal Environment Ministry.

In return, customers receive a vehicle that, according to the manufacturer, should convince with “hip Italian design” and “agile driving fun for town and country”. The bare technical data is less euphoric to read.

The Pio is 2.81 meters long, 1.54 meters wide and 1.55 meters high. Its electric drive brings an output of 36 kilowatts (49 hp) to the road. This enables a top speed of 105 kilometers per hour. According to the WLTP standard, consumption should be 9.7 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers. The battery used provides an energy content of 27 kilowatt hours and thus extends a maximum of 225 kilometers. The charging time is eight hours.
