Rezo once again destroys the CDU

Youtuber Rezo has again taken the CDU to his chest after his destruction video from 2019. In focus: Chancellor candidate Armin Laschet. Julia Klöckner also gets her fat off.

In the run-up to the 2019 European elections, Youtuber Rezo caused a sensation with his video The Destruction of the CDU. In it he targeted the government coalition of CDU / CSU and SPD and their climate policy. The video caused a stir. To date, it has been viewed 19 million times, and Rezo has received the renowned Nannen Prize, among other things. Rezo himself did not expect this success, as he said in the t3n interview at the time. Now, shortly before the general election, Rezo has stepped up.

CDU video: Rezo takes Laschet to his chest

The video runs under the title Destruction Part 1: Incompetence and is about half as long as the destruction video from 2019. This time, Armin Laschet, the Union’s candidate for chancellor, is the focus of Rezo’s account. As with the last video, the almost 30-minute long second strip of Rezo’s seemingly credible criticism, which is backed up by dozens of sources, as well as the embedded videos, images and quotes, is alive and well.

This time, Rezo claims to have “disrespect and clear untruths” as well as “illegal activities” and the alleged waste of taxpayers’ money. Actually, according to Rezo, he wanted to deal with all parties. But at the CDU / CSU such cases happened disproportionately often. There is also a swipe at the image campaign of the Greens and their candidate for Chancellor Annalena Baerbock as well as a general criticism of the AfD, but the lion’s share of the allegations in the Rezo video concern the CDU and its protagonists: inside.

From Laschet, for example, after a list of various statements on environmental protection that he made the day after the flood disaster in North Rhine-Westphalia, Rezo demanded that the candidate for chancellor should take “a correct point of view”. Other missteps by Laschet in the days after the disaster are also dealt with.

CDU projects and promises in sight

Agriculture Minister Julia Klöckner (CDU) is the target of the Rezo allegations, among other things because of her animal welfare initiative and the much-criticized video with Nestlé. In addition, Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) gets his fat away because of the car toll. Other political projects of the governing parties such as upload filters, the coal phase-out or broadband expansion are then criticized in rapid succession.

What the video title suggests, namely a second part of the new destruction video, including further allegations and criticism, Rezo explicitly announced in the video. Let’s see how the CDU reacts this time. Two years ago this looked rather awkward. The then CDU leader Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer had criticized Rezo at the time for his appeal at the time not to vote for the CDU and SPD in the interests of climate protection so shortly before the election. This time the video comes earlier.
