EA canceled the MMO from the world of Harry Potter -apkrig

In a somewhat unusual way, we learned that Electronic Arts years ago was preparing an MMO from the wizarding world of Harry Potter, but canceled it because it was concerned about the strength and durability of the brand itself. This was revealed by Kim Salzer, who led EA’s product marketing from 2000 to 2003, when the publisher held Potter games. The revelation occurred during an interview published by the streamer The Real Brandolorian.

She answered the question of whether there was a project in the past that she was excited about, she knew it would be great, but in the end, for some reason, it failed. Kim Salzer said it was supposed to be a massively multiplayer Harry Potter game. According to her, EA did a detailed research, they had a bet and according to her it was a combination of online and offline experience, where the publisher would actually send some rewards to the players by mail.

She was personally involved and confident of success. But Electronic Arts was undergoing change at the time, she said, and management did not believe the IP would last more than two years. As it turned out, the brand itself has much more potential and two decades later it is still super strong. If the game itself worked out that way, and that’s key, it probably wouldn’t be short of fans.

Because Kim Salzer repeatedly mentions children as potential customers, it may have been something for a younger audience. But it is not certain. In the same way, she could speak a little awkwardly about the players in this series about the children in general. EA made the games according to Potter from 2001 to 2011 and the fact is that even these gradually evolved from the titles for younger in a much broader finish.

We can only add that we are still waiting for the RPG Hogwarts Legacy, where he will definitely play the story of the prim, but there has also been repeated speculation about possible multiplayer. The game is due next year.
