Dutch BLOX app makes buying crypto easy

During the crypto theme week, BLOX is our App of the Week. This Dutch app informs novice users and has a simple interface. We explain the benefits of the app and also discuss a few points for improvement for BLOX.

BLOX app for crypto

With the rising popularity of cryptocurrencies in 2021, crypto apps have mushroomed. It is therefore especially important to choose the best apps. An app that is useful for beginners in the crypto market is the BLOX app. The app has a good user experience and contains instructive information about crypto.

BLOX is an app of the Dutch company BTC Direct, which is a company that serves as a broker for crypto coins since 2013. You will find an offer of more than 50 different crypto coins in the app and you can easily follow the price per hour, per day, per day or in a chart that shows 12 months. You can also monitor your share in different digital currencies in the vault and consult your overview of transactions.

With every transaction you perform, you pay a relatively low cost of 1 percent and you can buy Bitcoin or other crypto coins from 1 euro. The advantage of a low entry cost is that beginners can build up more gradually and thus gain some experience with small amounts first.

Simple and safe

If you want to buy crypto coins via BLOX, you pay via iDEAL, Bancontact, or credit card. The account with which you deposit money is automatically also the account with which you later withdraw money after you have sold your crypto coins and the latter is not unimportant. You have to log in with a username and password. Suppose a malicious person manages to hack into your BLOX account, then he cannot get away with your money.

Furthermore, the app also supports two-step verification (2FA) via Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. This means that you must first generate a unique code locally on your phone before you can log in to BLOX. 2FA is not active by default, but you can activate it from the settings. It is important that if you ever switch phones, you manually transfer your 2FA account to the new device.

doors closed

An important asset of this app is the information you can read about every kind of crypto coins. Everything is also in Dutch and if you have any questions, you can also easily contact the BLOX support service. Of course you cannot ask them for advice for investments, but they do help with practical and technical questions.

The simplicity and accessibility is an asset of this app, but that can also work as a less good aspect at the same time. BLOX sometimes lacks interesting features such as the option to automatically invest in a particular crypto on a monthly basis. There is also no possibility to receive a notification on your phone when a specific crypto currency has reached a certain price, although such a function is being worked on, BTC Direct told Androidworld in an interview. And last but not least, BLOX only exists as an app and does not have a platform on desktop.

Keep in mind that cryptocurrencies are very volatile, and that definitely comes with risks. Which app do you use to buy Bitcoin or ‘alt coins’? Maybe you prefer a mobile wallet or hardware wallet to an exchange like BLOX? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
