Does your phone’s alarm clock stop going off? This is the reason (+poll)

There is a bug in the Google Clock app as many users are complaining in the Play Store reviews about alarms not going off. And you can already imagine the consequences that this entails: people who oversleep. Google is investigating the problem.

Alarms that don’t go off, people who oversleep and arrive late for work. It’s the horrors that can be read in Google Clock’s Play Store reviews. A lot of people are leaving a one star review due to a new bug in the app, Android Authority noted.

People who denounced the problem had all neatly set an alarm clock, and there are quite a few. Google Clock is in fact available on phones from Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Google’s own Pixels. Although the problem seems to have spread even more widely, because on Thursday the alarm on my Lenovo Smart Clock did not go off for the first time. Many other smart devices use Clock.

Solution in the making

Google has already indicated in the IssueTracker that the problem is being investigated and a solution is in the works. It’s not clear at this time what exactly is causing it, but it may be related to the Do Not Disturb feature or Bedtime Mode of devices that prevent alarm clocks from ringing. Of course, the alarm clock must be an exception to Do Not Disturb.
