Sony changed her mind. The Horizon Forbidden West upgrade will be free -apkrig

Sony changed her mind and heard the call of the fans. As with the planned shutdown of the PlayStation Store on older consoles, the manufacturer eventually acknowledged that Horizon Forbidden West deserved a free upgrade from PS4 to PS5, as Jim Ryan explicitly promised in an interview with The Washington Post last September. So it is not so much a concession as a compliance with a previous commitment, but that was the only right step. At the same time, Sony originally said that it would not offer an additional paid upgrade. And if a person did not buy one of the more expensive editions, he was entitled to only one platform.

Players who purchase Horizon Forbidden West on the PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free.

Just yesterday during the day, we wrote that this was a decision that Sony should make and that the community could really make it do it. It was confirmed tonight. The most professional, the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan, who was at the very beginning of the whole problem, hurried to explain. He wrote in an update on the PlayStation Blog that it is quite clear that the published pre-order offer did not suit players’ tastes.

“Last year, we pledged to provide free upgrades for our launch cross-gen games, including Horizon Forbidden West. Even if the pandemic caused the game to move from the originally planned date, we will live up to our offer, “Ryan wrote. Players who purchase Horizon Forbidden West on the PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free. So it will work the same as the launch games Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Future cross-gen exclusivity from Sony will be upgraded for $ 10

However, this offer will not apply to all similar games. Jim Ryan has promised that all of Sony’s cross-gen first party exclusivity, which will be released on both the PS4 and PS5, will offer a $ 10 upgrade option for both digital and physical versions in the future. By the way, this is the price that we also indicated yesterday. In the case of disc versions, however, it is of course necessary to have a PS5 with a drive.

In other words, Sony says that the versions for the PS5 will be more expensive than the same game on the PS4. And the upgrade will cover this difference. This is to be the case with another God of War and the upcoming Gran Turisma 7, which will offer, in addition to the PS5, also a PS4 version, as we learned this June. But Sony promises to include any other exclusive cross-gen titles released by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

There are still different versions in the PS Store menu, watch out for the more expensive ones

In that sense, Microsoft still has a bit of an upper hand. So far, its Smart Delivery program provides fans with a greater guarantee, as it applies at least to all first party games from Microsoft and selected other games. The upgrade costs nothing, all versions have the same price and you just play the best available. And it is the price of the basic version that still causes some confusion in the case of Horizon Forbidden West.

The strange thing is that if you look at the Czech PlayStation Store, you will still find three identical editions. Digital deluxe for PS4 and PS5 at the same time for 2379 crowns. Standard PS4 version for 1849 crowns. And the standard PS5 version for 2119 crowns. If the upgrade is to be free, it doesn’t make sense to have two different versions. Because the cheaper PS4 will unlock the PS5 version anyway. That’s a little bizarre. Potentially, you can now buy a cheaper PS4 version and upgrade to a free PS5. But then you would overpay the classic PS5 version unnecessarily and its higher price tag loses its meaning. Or will the price of the PS4 version rise later? Maybe not, then it wasn’t quite a free upgrade…
