does Max win the race with you?

”It’s light out and there we go!” The lights will go out at two o’clock tomorrow. Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton then fight each other for the world title in Formula 1. To get into the F1 atmosphere all weekend and to be able to influence a race ourselves, we have an F1 game for you: F1 Clash.

Racing during a real Grand Prix

Formula 1 fan or not, you can’t ignore it this weekend. In every talk show these days it is about none other than Max Verstappen and all of the Netherlands suddenly seems to have become a Formula 1 fan, or rather more Max Verstappen fan. For fans of the sport, there are several games and apps, of which F1 Clash is one. In this game you compete against other players around the world. This can be done in a duel (1 against 1) or by participating in an F1 event that is held on a ‘real’ Grand Prix day. In this game you are partly the engineer and you decide when your drivers have to make a pit stop, for example.

Lucky and a little strange

This is how a race goes in this game. You start with two drivers, two rookies from this Formula 1 season, Yuki Tsunoda and Nikita Mazepin. For the connoisseurs among us: in real life you don’t want these two drivers together in your team. This is because they will cause quite a bit of damage to the car. But don’t worry, in not a single race we’ve ‘run’ has one of these riders spun or crashed into the wall. In this regard, the game is already unrealistic. In addition, you can choose from three different tires for a pit stop: softs, hards and wets. What exactly does the latter do in a dry weather race? This option is there so you can switch to the wet-weather tires during rainfall, but it’s a shame you don’t have any other options here. It is also a pity that you cannot influence the qualifications yourself and that some items cost (real) money.

Strategy

But apart from that, the game is just fun to play and some strategy certainly plays a role. For example, are you going to let your driver drive fast, which causes more tire wear, so that you have to make a pit stop earlier and perhaps more often. Or do you choose to let your rider slow down, allowing you to skip a pit stop. These are choices that can affect the race. The pit stop strategy is especially important, here you win (or lose) a race.

As you race more, you work your way up and you can collect more updates and/or Formula 1 drivers. This way you can further develop your car and, among other things, provide it with a better front wing or provide your engine with more power. The game is an ‘F1 licensed product’, which means that you encounter the real Formula 1 teams and drivers.

Who are you cheering for?

Then of course the question remains: are you a Formula 1 fan? And who are you cheering for this weekend? Let us know in the comments below this article, we’re curious! In any case, our editorial team is divided. One cheers for Max, the other for Hamilton and the undersigned for Seb(?) Vettel. In short, we are a bit ‘woebeldiwabski’ in the editorial office.
