Do you ever use your phone in traffic?

As of today, the fine for using a mobile phone while driving has been increased. The government wants to punish serious and dangerous traffic violations more severely. Time to put it to the test. How do you do in traffic?

Phone use in the car and on the bike

You may only call when the car is stationary, for example in a traffic jam, at a traffic light or in a parking lot. Do you do this while driving or cycling? Then you can count on a fine of 350 euros. Foreleg you were fined 250 euros. In 2020 we already published an AW Poll about telephone use in traffic. Research at the time showed that 70 percent of the participants in traffic still used the telephone. Unfortunately, not much had changed in that percentage compared to two years earlier. Yet more than half of the voters in our AW Poll set a good example, as the results showed:

58.1 percent of the readers who completed the poll indicate that they do not use their telephone in traffic. For 23.8 percent, almost a quarter, they occasionally use the telephone in traffic. Finally, 5.4 percent of our readers say they use their phone regularly ‘but reduce it’ and 6 percent say they will continue to use the phone as usual.

AW Poll

We are now two years on and we are curious whether the behavior with regard to telephone use in the car and on the bicycle has changed. So we are curious if you ever use your phone in traffic? We have used exactly the same options as in 2020 for this. We can then compare the results in the results that will be published next Sunday.

Leave your vote in this AW Poll and also clarify your answer in the comments at the bottom of this article.
