Easter eggs on your iPhone

Easter eggs have been around for years and come in all kinds of guises. They are often small messages or a funny function in a computer game, a movie, a website and much more. Like Easter eggs, these Easter eggs are hidden and sometimes you have to look hard to spot them.

Your iPhone and iPad also have some of these hidden features or messages. In this article, we’ll show you how to find three of these easter eggs on your iPhone.

1. Voice Memos logo says Apple

Do you know the Voice Memos app? This allows you to record sound fragments and you can listen to them again. But have you ever looked closely at the logo? If you start a new recording and then say ‘Apple’, you see something special about the sound wave. It is exactly the same as the app icon.

2. Big Ben in Apple Cards

There are also nice easter eggs in Apple Maps on your iPhone. One can be found at Big Ben in London. You can find this easter egg in the following way:

  • Open Apple Maps and search for ‘Big Ben London’;
  • Zoom in on the Big Ben and tap the 3D icon;
  • Tap the button at the top right, by default this is a country map, but it can also be a car, bus or globe for you;
  • Choose the satellite option;
  • Drag the camera to the clock of Big Ben.

You will now see the correct time on the face of Big Ben. Keep in mind that England has an hour time difference. So if you look at Big Ben at 13:28 Dutch time, you will see that it is still 12:28 in England.

3. The app clock shows the real time

The last function of these three easter eggs on your iPhone is not hard to spot, but you may have never noticed it. Did you know that the Clock app on your iPhone or iPad actually shows the current time? So you don’t have to open the app first to view the (world) clock. The time can be read immediately.
