‘Charging the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro takes much longer than promised’

Fast charging, it is very handy if you want to fully charge your phone during breakfast for a long working day. Smartphones are charging faster and faster, but the charger of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is a lot slower than what Google has promised.

Slow Pixel 6 charger

Personally, I think fast charging is a very nice feature of a phone. My OnePlus 9 Pro can charge with a speed of 65 watts, so it doesn’t necessarily have to be on the charger all night. A quick charge in the morning is usually enough to get through the working day. More and more devices are equipped with fast charging. However, there are still many differences in the charging speeds of devices. For example, we see devices with 120W at Xiaomi, for example, but Samsung is often still dangling a bit at the bottom.

Google has also equipped the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro with fast charging, at 30 watts. The promise from Google was that the smartphones would be half charged in half an hour. Now it turns out that these promises are not correct at all. The colleagues of Android Authority write about this. The charging speed of 30 watts is not achieved, not with the official charger as with a handful of compatible chargers. The peak speed comes in at just 22 watts, while the average is 13 watts. Extra annoying is that the official charger is not even included, but that you can still sell it for a few tens. outcome; charging the 5000 mAh battery in the Pixel 6 Pro takes a whopping 115 minutes, which is almost two hours.
