Call via WhatsApp on your iPhone? In iOS 16.4 it gets even better

New calling feature in iOS 16.4

It won’t be long before iOS 16.4 is launched. Today the RC of iOS 16.4 (Release candidate), the last test version before the final release. A lot is already clear about iOS 16.4 and what functions we can expect in the latest iOS version. For example, a new series of emojis is coming to your iPhone and it will finally be possible to receive notifications from Safari.

In iOS 16.4, calling via the internet also gets a new function. With this new calling feature, also known as ‘Voice Isolation’ or ‘Voice Isolation‘, background noise is filtered out during a phone call. For example, your voice can be heard more clearly during a telephone conversation and annoying noises in the background are less disturbingly audible. Handy in a busy street for example!

Voice isolation also works with WhatsApp calling

The new feature works with all apps running on iOS 15 or newer. So it is also possible to turn on voice isolation while calling via WhatsApp. This makes calling via WhatsApp on your iPhone a lot easier, especially if you’re calling from a busy area. You turn on voice isolation in the following way:

  1. Start a phone call on your iPhone, for example via WhatsApp;
  2. Open your iPhone’s control panel;
  3. Go to ‘Mode’;
  4. Finally, choose ‘Voice isolation’.

Don’t see the new feature yet? Then check whether your iPhone is already running on iOS 16.4. The update will be released at the end of March 2023. New iOS is likely to appear next week

Calling via your iPhone becomes a bit easier in iOS 16.4. It’s probably not long to wait for the new iOS update. Apple usually releases interim updates for the iPhone on a Monday or Tuesday. This means we may be able to install iOS 16.4 as early as next week, on March 27 or 28.
