Developer Ken Pillonel has now come up with something special, namely by charging AirPods with a cable. In a video you can see that he has developed AirPods that you can simply charge with an old-fashioned cable. The only drawback: the charging cable cannot be disconnected from the earphones. Battery of the AirPods deteriorated after three years

The enormously deteriorated battery of the AirPods was the main reason for Pillonel to tinker with the earphones. The developer has had his AirPods for three years now, but the battery was no longer working properly. This annoys the tinkerer, because he emphasizes in the video that Apple has designed the AirPods in such a way that you actually have to buy new earphones after a few years.

The video shows Pillonel disassembling the AirPods and removing the wireless charging pieces from the earbuds. He then starts working with new wired charging points in the AirPods, of course with a USB-C connection. The wired AirPods are, according to Pillonel, his “most innovative project to date,” but he (unfortunately) has no plans to produce more wired AirPods.
