Beware of the fake Facebook profile of the Dôvera insurance company!

Social networks and especially Facebook are often tools used by Internet fraudsters to solicit personal information from users. They are often enticed to win a competition, which they condition by winning by sending a payment card number. The latest case is a fake Facebook account of an insurance company Trust, as pointed out by the company itself.

You can recognize a fake account by the incorrectly written name of the insurance company

The insurance company pointed out the fraud this morning on its website in the News section. He points out that the name of the fake Facebook account incorrectly states the uppercase and lowercase letters of the name of the health insurance company. In addition, it is a regular private account and not a verified Facebook page of the company. The fake account sends messages to Facebook users asking them to fill out a form in which they have to enter their credit card number in order to win the competition.

Dôvera has already asked Facebook to cancel the fake account. Until then, not only should her clients be wary of such a fraudulent site. According to its website, it has at least 1,439,000 policyholders with a 26.46 percent market share. Even if only a few per mille of their loyal clients came to the fraudulent competition, it could financially harm thousands of people.

Beware of competitions that ask for money or a credit card number

Fake social media accounts are a common tactic for fraudsters. By imitating a well-known institution or personality, they can more easily gain the trust of inattentive people. If they are attracted to win by a well-known company, institution, politician, singer or actor, then they immediately consider the competition to be credible. Probably the most famous case of fake accounts took place last year on the social network Twitter in connection with cryptocurrencies. Scammers then appeared to hold the accounts of popular Twitter users such as Elon Musk or Donald Trump.

They then tried to lure cryptocurrencies from new investors on the pretext of donating cryptocurrencies to all those who sent a fraction of this amount in advance to their cryptomenic address. While the social network responded and erased the fake accounts, many naive people lost thousands of dollars in cryptocurrencies. Therefore, always be careful with competitions or other advantageous offers on social networks that ask you for money or credit card numbers.
