Rumor: New iPhone SE Coming in Q1 of 2022

Apple will release a new version of the wildly popular iPhone SE in a few months. That reports the Taiwanese TrendForce, a well-known and reliable source. The current SE is Apple’s cheapest iPhone and also the only iPhone that still has a home button and Touch ID on board. The successor of the device will probably have a similar design. On the inside, the new iPhone SE gets a few hefty upgrades.

According to the source, Apple has high hopes for the next-generation iPhone SE. The manufacturer would like to produce at least 25 to 30 million units. That is not surprising, since the current SE still sells very well. It is the most affordable new iPhone, which offers a lot of features despite its lower price.

Due to the persistent chip shortages, it is becoming increasingly difficult for companies like Apple to supply enough smartphones. This is also noticeable with the iPhone 13 series, which is still not immediately available in most places. Fortunately, the release of the new iPhone SE does not seem to suffer from this.

More about the new iPhone SE

According to MacRumors the next iPhone SE will have a 4.7-inch screen and a home button with Touch ID. A significant upgrade is 5G support – the current SE only supports 4G. The new device is also reportedly getting an A15 chip under the hood. This is the same chip we saw earlier in the iPhone 13 series. That probably means the new iPhone SE will be faster than most competitors in the same price range.

Apple sells the current iPhone SE from 492 euros. For this you get 64 gigabytes of storage space. We expect the price of the new iPhone SE to remain about the same. It is not known whether Apple will also give the smartphone 128 gigabytes of storage space, just like the cheapest iPhone 13.
