Apple released no new Mac models on Q4 2022, a first since 2001
“Fun fact”: since 2001, every year, Apple unveils at least one new Mac model in the fourth quarter. This commercial “tradition” began with the presentation and marketing of the iBook G3 in 2001 and continued in the following years… except in this year 2022. The latest Mac novelty is indeed the MacBook Air M2, available at the sale since July 15th. We will therefore have to be patient since the next “prospective” Mac model will be none other than the 14 and 1-inch MacBook Pro, also equipped with the Apple Silicon M2 chip.
Initially, rumors indicated that these two models would be presented before the end of the current year, but Apple is obviously not in too much of a hurry to modify its catalog. It must be said that Mac sales are at their highest (even with big market share gains in the United States and Europe), a situation that may have prompted Apple to be more wait-and-see; new models will no doubt be presented when sales of current models show some signs of weakness, which could well happen as early as the first quarter of 2023. According to analyst Mark Gurman, Apple would also take advantage of Q1 2023 to unveil “updated” versions of the Mac mini and the Mac Pro (another model yet tipped for the end of 2022).
