The Slovak Secret War strategy is remembered after a pause -apkrig

Two years ago, we wrote at the Vortex about the Slovak tactical turn-based game Secret War, which is to present the World War II operations that are being forgotten. But for the first time ever, we even presented it in a video in November 2018. It might seem as if the ground has fallen after a title inspired by games like Silent Storm, Jagged Alliance or XCOM ever since. But the opposite is true. The project is still under development, although it has gone through some complications.

The title wants to tell the forgotten stories of World War II heroes.

The development is still led by Branislav Guláš, however, the game is no longer created in the Neutraworks studio, but in the new Centurion Developments team. The developers had to restart the project, which brought them back a year. On the other hand, they could allegedly avoid previous mistakes. Now the title has reached a stage where it is possible to talk about it, and this is a great opportunity for us to remember the Secret War. To emphasize that the title is still being worked on, they published a new short teaser, launched a new official website and revived their Facebook profile. You can also see the first pictures from the current version.

It’s still true that Secret War is a tactical turn-based game that openly claims the legacy of classics like XCOM or Silent Storm. The title wants to tell the forgotten stories of World War II heroes. We will be able to summon experienced veterans to the weapon or train our own. As their skills improve, they will unlock access to the special skills that are to be derived from their specialization.

Western and Eastern Allies can support your efforts. It’s up to you whose sympathy you get. But first you have to make an appropriate impression on them. Only then will they provide you with weapons, ammunition, money and other resources. They can also lend you some of their seasoned soldiers. The authors point out that we must weigh well who we will please with our actions and who we will disappoint. Not everyone can be satisfied. It is supposed to be a realistic but atypical view of a known conflict.

We have previously written that covert operations are to involve the capture of prisoners, their interrogation, the theft of important documents and the sabotage of key connections. Secret War wants to introduce us to secret missions that most people don’t know about, or at least don’t care about. If we are to succeed in missions, we must also build a network of reliable informants in an effort to gain the upper hand before the enemy. We will also manage our own base, similar to XCOM. Two years ago, Branislav Guláš indicated to us in an interview that we should look at Slovakia and maybe Prague in the game. So keep your fingers crossed for the authors.
