The new feature was announced a while ago. Podcasters will have the opportunity to offer exclusive content and other extras, such as no advertising. So people have to pay for this. The episodes themselves will remain free, but if you pay, fans can get access earlier. This is useful for podcasters, because they can earn some money with it. But that’s only possible if people listen through Apple’s Podcast app. And that’s a pity.
