Apple is reportedly working on new Apple Watch bands with a very cool feature: the bands can change color.

New Apple Watch bands are coming

Apple has filed a number of patents again, giving us a little more idea of ​​what exactly the company is working on at the moment. The patents that were recently approved describe a special new feature: the new Apple Watch bands can change color.

Good news, right, because this means that in the future you will in principle only have to buy one strap for your Apple Watch. Of course this depends on the number of colors in which you can change your strap. It is not clear from the patent applied for exactly how many colors the strap can show, but there is at least talk of several color combinations.

Apple Watch band changes due to electric current

The patent filed by Apple describes how electricity should cause the band to change color. When a certain amount of current passes through the band, the Apple Watch band changes color. So it is possible to give the strap a different color or pattern every day.

It is not entirely clear whether the strap can only change color when connected to an Apple Watch, or also when it is disconnected. Although the latter would mean that the band itself has a battery, which will probably make the price of the bands even higher. The patent only states that the strap does not have to be loosened to change color.

Changing colors get functions

Adjusting the colors of the strap takes on multiple functions. It is of course great to match the strap with your outfit every day, but the color changes are also functional. For example, the strap can turn green when you have filled your training ring or turn blue when you have reached your daily standing goal.

This may also mean that receiving messages will happen in a completely different way. For example, it is possible that the incoming message will be projected onto your Apple Watch strap with the new technology, so that you are immediately informed. This way the strap gets a completely different function!

It is not yet known when the new tapes will appear. It is quite possible that Apple will introduce the new bands at the launch of the new Apple Watch Ultra. It will probably appear next year, making it a perfect opportunity for Apple to present the futuristic bands.
