Apple is preparing a foldable 20.5-inch MacBook for 2025
2025 would be the year when Apple would offer a foldable MacBook with a 20.5-inch screen according to information from Ross Young. The analyst, specializing in screens, refers to a notebook in its announcement, which may surprise knowing that this term normally refers to laptops with small screens. Except that with 20.5 inches, we are far from being on a small format.
Ross Young had already mentioned in February 2022 that Apple was working on a MacBook/iPad type hybrid product with a screen of around 20 inches in size. The fact that the analyst is still bringing up this project today and sharing the 20.5-inch size suggests the product is still going strong a year later.
Subsequently, the analyst denies information recently shared by his colleague Ming-Chi Kuo. The latter had announced that Apple intended to release a foldable iPad in 2024 with a carbon fiber kickstand. Ross Young says he hasn’t heard of such a plan for next year. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also said he hadn’t heard of such a product for 2024. Based on today’s news, Kuo may have been a little too optimistic.
Have heard about a 20.5” foldable notebook for 2025, but nothing about a foldable iPad for 2024. Maybe this is just good PR for the hinge company…
