A major update is being rolled out for the ANWB Weg app. The application will be able to navigate from now on. A very nice update with a new design.

ANWB On the Road 5.0

The ANWB Route app 5.0 is available in the Google Play Store. The latest version of the application first of all brings a new design. Several things immediately stand out in the new design. For example, the start screen has been addressed and the navigation bar has also been adjusted.

On the start screen you will find a large map with your current location, where you can immediately see which charging stations, gas stations and parking spaces are present in the area. Below it you will find the search bar that allows you to directly enter a destination, which we will come back to later in the article. You can also search directly for these places with the buttons below. At the top of the screen on the home screen, you have direct insight into the delays and flashes.

In the navigation bar you can quickly switch to Driving mode, with which you can immediately scan your environment for the available facilities, but also find the navigation. You can also go directly to ANWB Parking, the Wegenwacht and your My ANWB account.

In ANWB Route 5.0 you can indicate yourself whether charging stations should also be displayed, or only filling stations. Handy if you don’t drive an electric car, or if you do.

Navigation

The navigation in the ANWB Weg app is actually self-explanatory. You enter your destination and you will see two routes. You select the route you want and the navigation can be started. Adding a via location is in any case not possible at the moment.

When you have planned the route you can adjust some preferences. For example, you can indicate that you want to charge at your destination, that you want to fast charge on the way or that you want to refuel during your route. You can then immediately select which charging station or gas station you want, so that you see what to expect, also in terms of price. You can also see how many minutes the detour takes if you choose a specific gas station.

With the navigation you get spoken instructions and there is also lane assistance. Of course, the current traffic volume is taken into account.
