Android security update February 2023: 40 patches plus Pixel patches

Google has released a new security patch for Android. The security update February 2023 addresses forty vulnerabilities in the operating system. The company also has several improvements ready for devices from the Pixel series, including the Pixel 4 and 4 XL.

Every month Google releases a new security update for Android. This time we have arrived at security update February 2023. The new update is again working on fixing vulnerabilities in Android. This is reflected in the changelog, which mentions a total of forty vulnerabilities that are addressed with the update.

The various vulnerabilities addressed with the February Android security update are not the same for all devices. For example, a distinction is made between the components used, such as the processor used in an Android device. Other factors also depend on this. In addition, manufacturers usually also add their own patches to the update, specifically for their own devices. There are also extras for Pixel models, which we discuss below.

Pixel

For the Pixel devices, the February security update contains a number of additional improvements. We see that the changelog is filled with various optimizations and improvements. We have listed them for you below.

• Fix for issue preventing touch interaction with Braille keyboard in certain conditions

Audio

• Fix for issue occasionally causing instability while Clear Calling is enabled in certain conditions *[Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro]

bluetooth

• Fix for issue occasionally preventing connection with certain Bluetooth devices or accessories

Framework

• Fix for issue occasionally preventing Work profile calendar information from updating in the background

Pixel 4 series

In October last year, support for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL ended. Nevertheless, a new update is now ready for the two models that were released in 2019. There is no changelog, and this update is also based on the October patch. It is therefore unknown what exactly has been improved and adjusted by Google.
