Android Auto gets more new features
Google has improved several of its applications and services this week, including the Android Auto platform. It now receives support for the GameSnacks game service and job profile, customized recommendations from Google Now, and a new Waze user interface. The XDA Developers portal informed about the news.
All of the features below are now available for devices running Android 6.0 and above and compatible cars.
Customized designs and GameSnacks minigames
Android Auto will soon start displaying personalized music, news, and podcast recommendations based on data from Google Now. A new button will also appear in the navigation bar, which, when clicked, opens a dialog box asking what you want to listen to.
The GameSnacks game platform icon is added to the application menu, allowing you to play simple HTML5 minigames. However, it is an online service, so you will only be able to play if you are connected to the Internet.
Job profile support
Furthermore, Android Auto gets support for a job profile. Google has been working on this feature for several months and is now now officially reaching users. Through the work profile, you will have access to your work applications directly on the vehicle screen, thanks to which you will not have to reach for the phone while driving. Business applications will be separated from the usual ones by a briefcase character.
In addition, when a smartphone with two SIM cards is connected to the vehicle, Android Auto gives you the choice of which one you want to use when making a call.
Sophisticated Waze for Android Auto
The latest change is the new design of the Waze user interface for Android Auto. It moves less important elements to the background and puts more emphasis on the map itself, making navigation more efficient. The new version also adds support for touchpads, night mode and lane assistant.
