Android 11 still the biggest

Google has shared new Android distribution figures, showing which Android versions are the most popular. The figures were collected on 9 May and have now been released. Android 12 is still the big absent.

Android 11 the biggest

Android 11 is the most popular Android version, according to the most recent distribution figures shared by Google. It’s been a while since Google shared these numbers. The last time this was in November. This overview used to be shared monthly, but that is no longer the case. With these figures from May 2022, we see that Android 12 still has no share in the availability of Android versions. Quite striking since especially Samsung, but also Motorola and other manufacturers have already made the update to Android 12 available.

Android 11 has a share of 28.3 percent, which is an increase of 24.2 percent compared to the previous figures. The share of Android 10 has fallen from 26.5% in November, to 23.9 percent in May. In general, all older Android versions have fallen in share, with Jelly Bean’s share falling to less than half a percent. We expect that with the next announcement of the figures, the share of Android 12 will already be substantial.
