An electric car has never been so fast

Anyone who believes that e-cars are nothing but staid vehicles for do-gooders could hardly be more wrong. The world of electric mobility has models that are just bursting with power. Boredom is out of the question. Especially not with the new speed king from Croatia, the fastest series electric car in the world.

Rimac Nevara: electric projectile sprints to 412 km/h

Anyone who needs the smell of petrol and roaring exhausts to enjoy driving will now be taught otherwise: the Croatian racing team from Rimac Automobili provides an unbeatable counter-argument with the Nevara model. The electric hypercar has always been considered one of the fastest electric cars in the world – and now impressively delivers the proof (can be seen in the video above).

With a Top speed of 412 km/h the electric super sports car takes the throne as the fastest series-produced electric car in the world. According to their own statements, the still young Croatian company had already secured the top place for the fastest acceleration over the quarter mile with 8.582 seconds.

So far, the goal of reaching 412 km/h with the Superstromer was only tested in theory. It should be this mark that technicians and engineers at Rimac had set years ago when presenting the Nevara – and which now had to be broken. The joy must have been all the greater when the main tester and driver Miro Zrnčević was able to report the success by radio.

Rimac left these Stromer behind with its record:

“Driving at 412 km/h – or 258 mph – means moving at a third of the speed of sound. Just doing that with a car for the road is incredibly complex,” says Zrnčević (source: Rimac Automobili). By the way, Rimac got the record in Germany, on the test track near Papenburg. It took the 4km straights to even attempt such tremendous top speed.

Fastest electric car in the world: nothing for every budget

For all speed junkies, however, Rimac also has a bitter pill to swallow with the good news: the Nevara is only sold to customers in restricted quantities. Then it’s already over at 352 km/h. If you want to experience the top speed of the electric monster for yourself, you have to do it under controlled conditions and with the support of the manufacturer. And be able to afford the Rimac Nevara. The carmaker lets the e-sportsman round 2.5 million euros costs.
