Annemarie Keizer candid about the consequences of sleep deprivation: ‘My bucket was full’

Annemarie and Simon Keizer became parents of their second child, son Joa, nine months ago. The family was on a pink cloud for the first few weeks, but when their baby started crying at night due to hidden reflux, Annemarie’s bucket overflowed.

She shares a candid post about this on Instagram.

cry baby

‘The combination of becoming a mother again, lots of hormones, little to NO sleep for months because of our (crying) baby who was in pain but we didn’t know what, giving a sweet little girl attention and care, plus keeping the family going during the day (but luckily with the help of some lovely people around us) was quite a challenge’, she writes. “This caused my bucket to fill up, maybe topple over, and I went into survival mode.”

Love

Nevertheless, Annemarie also learned a nice lesson: ‘What I have learned from it is to see what is really important: love. As cliche as that sounds. Love within the family. Unconditional love to the kids. Love from friends and from the environment. And it has touched me how many sweet, concerned and helpful messages I have received over the past few months, despite being a little less active than before. I would like to say a huge thank you to you for that.’
