No time right now?

According to a media report, Facebook is now also working on a clubhouse copy. Meanwhile, Twitter is expanding the test run of its competing app Spaces.

The Facebook leadership instructed a group of developers to create an app modeled on Clubhouse. That reports the New York Times citing in-house sources. The app is apparently still in a very early development phase.

In the past, Facebook has repeatedly copied functions from other social networks. Since its takeover by Facebook in 2012, the Instagram picture network has reproduced functions from Vine, Snapchat and, most recently, Tiktok.

Company boss Mark Zuckerberg has already looked around at Clubhouse. During a clubhouse interview with Facebook VR boss Andrew Bosworth, Zuckerberg recently appeared and chatted briefly about his company’s virtual reality plans.

Spaces: Twitter’s clubhouse competitor is already a good bit further

Twitter’s clubhouse copy Spaces is already significantly further. After the beta version of the app published in December 2020 was initially only open to around 1,000 testers, the test phase has now been extended to 3,000 more people, according to US journalist Tom Warren. In the coming weeks, even more people should have the opportunity to try out Spaces.

While the social media top dogs are catching up, Clubhouse has also received a lot of attention in Germany since the beginning of 2021. Politicians and celebrities are now giving each other the handle – and stepping into one or the other faux pas. Criticism of the platform’s data protection hardly seems to diminish the success.
