Google now rolls out free VPN service to Pixel 7 (Pro)

Google’s paid VPN service would become available for free to owners of the Pixel 7 (Pro) at the end of this year. The first owners of these phones are now reporting that they can take advantage of this offer.

What is Google One VPN?

A VPN connection is a secure private connection. You can browse without using your own IP address. That is your own unique address on the internet. Benefits of using such a VPN include anonymity and security. For example, your IP address and location are not visible to everyone, and hackers and cybercriminals can be stopped. This is useful, for example, if you are on a public Wi-Fi connection, such as at an airport or in a café. Some people also use a VPN to access sports streams that are location dependent.

Pixel 7 (Pro) owners get Google One VPN for free

The Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro are the first phones to come with a built-in VPN and at launch, Google announced that owners of these phones can use the VPN service for free for a period of five years. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro would receive an update for this in December, but the first owners can already use the VPN service, reports 9to5Google.

After opening the Google One app, they will see in a new screen that their “Pixel comes with VPN from Google One” and that management can be done from this app. There is also a new section in the ‘Benefits’ tab of the Google One app with information about accessing this VPN service.
