The Kirin 9010 will be a top chipset from Huawei with 3nm manufacturing technology
A few months ago, Huawei introduced its first Kirin 9xxx processor. It was a Kirin 9000, which was listed in two variants – 9000 and 9000E. After all, these chips only made it into the new products of the Huawei Mate 40 model line. However, we should see their successor soon. It will be Kirin 9010.
The Kirin 9010 will bring some form of revolution to the world of mobile technology
A sure leakster on the social network Twitter, RODENT950, revealed that the Kirin 9010 should switch to 3nm manufacturing technology for the first time in the world of mobile microprocessors. The predecessor of the Kirin 9000 was historically the first, 5nm chipset, designed for Android devices. After its introduction, other manufacturers of mobile processors also acted, and we saw Exynos 1080 from the workshop of the South Korean Samsung and Snapdragon 888 from the American giant Qualcomm.

While many enthusiasts expected Huawei to stick to its 5nm manufacturing technology for some time to come, to the surprise of many, the Chinese company went one step further. According to the GizmoChina website, we will see the first integration of the 3nm Kirin 9010 chip in the upcoming Huawei Mate 50 model line. In other words, we will wait for the arrival of this processor, together with the mentioned Mate 50 series. Reportedly, these phones should not be introduced until the fourth quarter of 2021.
The transition to 3nm production technology is also being considered by competitors
As usual, we expect the transition to 3nm production technology from other suppliers of mobile processors. According to the latest information, however, the upcoming Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset should still be manufactured using 5nm technology, and as we have become accustomed to, the variant with the addition of “Plus” will be an overclocked, somewhat faster version of the original chip. We are quite curious when other “leading names” in the world of microchips will make this “jump”. Samsung has avoided 4nm technology as well.
For example, such an old well-known Apple, or their delivery company TSMC, reportedly works on a 3nm processor as well, but we should not see its final arrival until the beginning of 2022. It is so very likely that the Huawei Mate 50, along with its “siblings” from of the same series, will be the very first smartphones with 3nm processors in the world. The Huawei P50 model line is to come with the Kirin 9000.
