An incorrect update to Android 12 has disabled some models in the Xiaomi Mi 11 series

Owners of selected Xiaomi smartphones were given the opportunity to test the latest version of the Android operating system. However, users of the Xiaomi Mi 11, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and Xiaomi Mi 11i quickly regretted the update to Android 12 because, according to Gizchin, the new version of the software was faulty and made the devices unusable bricks.

The problem was caused by an update marked “V12.5.1.0.SKBMIXM”, “V12.5.1.0.SKKMIXM”, “V12.5.1.0.SKAMIXM”. It was not a stable version of Android 12, but a beta version that users could get through Mi Pilot. The company warned those interested in pre-testing the new system that the beta versions are full of bugs and their installation carries risks.

The trial was supposed to prevent just such bugs from affecting millions of users around the world. In this case, it fulfilled its purpose. However, after installing an incorrect update, affected users have no choice but to contact the service center.

You’d better wait for the update so far

It is not yet clear whether the problem has affected all owners of the above facilities. But if you are part of the Mi Pilot test program and own one of the affected devices, you’d better wait for the update.
