Bethesda pulls the rip cord: next PS5 hit is late

Although the PlayStation 5 has been on the market since November last year, there are still few games for the next-gen console. A potential PS5 hit is in development at Bethesda – but the release is a little longer than expected.

Although Bethesda Softworks is now part of Microsoft, some of the development studios are currently still working on games that will appear console-exclusive for the PS5. Among other things, is at Tango Gameworks Ghostwire: Tokyo in development, which will only be released for the Sony console and the PC.

The ambitious action-adventure should actually come on the market in the coming months, but now the studio has decided to to postpone the release to spring 2022. The team officially announced this on Twitter:

The reason: With this step, the studio wants to ensure the health of its employees. The term “crunch” is not explicitly mentioned in the tweet, but it can be assumed that the team would have to work a lot of overtime in order to be able to meet the original deadline.

In addition, it is mentioned that the new release period Tango Gameworks should give enough time to make Ghostwire: Tokyo what you always imagined. In conclusion, the studio declares that you can wants to show the fans even more of the game in the coming months.

Will Ghostwire: Tokyo come to Xbox Series later?

At the moment, the developers have not presented any plans that prove that Ghostwire: Tokyo will also be released for Xbox Series X | S at a later date. However, it is very likely that the exclusive contract with Sony is limited in time, so that a release on the Microsoft consoles after the deadline would not stand in the way.
