With this app you can use the Privacy Dashboard from Android 12 on any phone

Google is currently busy putting the finishing touches to Android 12, including the new Privacy Dashboard. Don’t want to wait for Android 12 but want to use the Privacy Dashboard already? Then there is this app.

Android 12 is one of the biggest updates to our beloved Android platform we’ve seen in years. The new Android version not only comes with a brand new design language including theme engine, but it also solves many privacy issues that Android has been struggling with for a while. The Privacy Dashboard is an example of this. We got to see more about the Dashboard during the announcement of the first beta of Android 12.

On this new Privacy Dashboard you can see at a glance when certain parts of your phone have been used, such as the microphone, the camera or your location. You can also see here how long those parts have been used. You will be notified of apps using your camera or microphone via a notification. This way you immediately know which apps use this and you can immediately revoke these permissions via the dashboard.

Of course, the new Dashboard can only be found in Android 12 for the time being and by the time your phone gets this Android version, it may be that Android 13 is just around the corner. Fortunately, everyone can already use the Privacy Dashboard, because a developer from India has made a nice alternative for all phones that do not run on Android 12.

The app comes pretty close to Google’s Dashboard as it is very similar in appearance and navigation. In our short tests, the app seemed to work well. The app shows a timeline of apps that can access your location, microphone, and camera on your phone. As with Google’s version, this timeline only shows data from the past 24 hours. It is therefore useful to check the timeline daily. The app also has a pie chart where you can see the data at a glance.

The app has even more similarities such as the privacy indicators. You will see this if an app has access to the camera, microphone or the camera. There is also a detailed overview of permissions per app. The app also contains a number of customization options such as different themes and you can exclude certain apps.

Privacy Dashboard is completely free and contains no ads, and the developer promises in the Play Store listing that it always will be.
