Windows Vista is still considered the black sheep of the Windows family by many users of Microsoft’s operating system. However, many users were really enthusiastic about one feature at the time: desktop widgets. Now, in Windows 11, a comeback of practical overlays seems to be in the offing.

Desktop widgets in windows 11? Rumors are confirmed
After a rather slow start, the Windows 11 train seems to be slowly rolling. More and more users are daring to switch to the new operating system, which Microsoft regularly supplies with new functions and features.
According to reports from Windows Central and Windows Latest an old feature from Windows Vista times will soon celebrate a comeback in Windows 11. Both portals state that Microsoft is working internally on the dynamic adswhich many people probably know from cell phones or tablets these days, too to make it available for Windows 11. In Windows Vista, these tools were known as Gadgets.
Normal widgets have been available in Windows 11 for some time in the so-called widget board, but so far the practical display tools cannot be pinned to the desktop. However, that could change with one of the future feature updates. First concepts from Windows fans on Reddit show how a corresponding integration into the modern OS could look like:
A display of the local weather and a suitable forecast as well as an overview of important stock prices would of course only be the tip of the iceberg. Basically, there are endless ways in which Microsoft and developers of apps and programs could use the desktop widgets: media players, calculators, calendars – there’s a lot going on.
When are the desktop widgets coming for Windows 11?
There is no official start date yet. Microsoft is keeping a low profile in this regard. How PCGamesHardware however reported, is the information It’s no longer just a rumor.
This type of widgets have apparently been used several times discovered in particular Insider builds of Windows 11. So it seems only a matter of time before the feature is officially rolled out.
