The original canceled version of the STALKER 2 event leaked to the Internet -apkrig

Materials from the game STALKER 2 leaked to the Internet, but from the original canceled version. The data appeared on Russian forums and social networks. Because we know that the developers from the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World have restarted the whole project and the new version has nothing to do with the original one, the materials will probably not provide any insight into what awaits us. But they can still be an interesting source of information for “what if” fans.

According to one of the documents, the game would be set in 2015, a few years after the events of Shadow of Chernobyl.

It is also worth remembering that this is not the first time that we have seen any leaks to the account of this canceled game. We have also written about some in the past. New data includes documents, a map of the world (or at least parts of it), weapon models, images or textures. But you will also find ideas for specific quests, descriptions of game systems or character behavior. In addition to the story outlines, fans rummage through milestones and various internal instructions. It will also include an early build on X-Ray Engine 2.0 technology from December 2011 and its source code.

According to one of the documents, the game would be set in 2015, a few years after the events of Shadow of Chernobyl. The main character would be a former stalker who is haunted by mysterious nightmares about the Zone. He therefore decides to head to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant again to understand what these visions mean. The player would encounter familiar characters. The key element was to be able to accumulate energy through anomalies and create artifacts with it.

The campaign itself was to employ the player for about 10 hours, but together with all the side missions, the game would take about 30 hours. The title was to develop the principles and possibilities of previous plays, with the authors clearly thinking about the illusion of the living world as it speaks of today in connection with the new version. The side missions were to be non-linear.

In the canceled project, enemies from previous games as well as completely new opponents were to appear. The plan was also multiplayer for up to 32 players. STALKER 2 was to be released on PC, Xbox 360 and probably on PlayStation 3. The current version is already powered by Unreal Engine from Epic and is aimed at PC and Xbox. The authors themselves from the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World have confirmed the authenticity of the leaked materials, so they can potentially become a very valuable source of information for game historians.

In 2018, work on STALKER 2 resumed.

You probably already know the rest of the story of the original version. STALKER 2 was announced in August 2010, but work had begun a year earlier and was due in 2012. In the meantime, the number of studio staff had shrunk from 200 to 50. Problems were repeatedly speculated when the project was finally completed in 2012. formally repealed.

But the studio itself was just an empty shell with debts and a lot of disputes. In 2011, the company actually ceased to function, only to come back to life three years later. In 2018, work on STALKER 2 began again. By the way, STALKER 2 was not the only victim of problems in GSC Game World. This is how the plans for the STALKER Online browser MMO came together.

STALKER and his graves

The troubled studio GSC Game World has many followers. Probably the most faithful continuation of the tradition are the Ukrainian teams 4A Games and Vostok Games. Studio 4A Games was founded in 2006 and was put together by the first batch of people who left GSC Game World to work for Shadow of Chernobyl. The 4A Games then gave the world the Metro series. Studio Vostok Games was established in 2012 and was put together by another group of former GSC Game World employees after the original team ceased to function. They too continue the legacy of the STALKER series. Although they did not raise enough funds for a game that could be equal in scope to the second part they were working on, they embarked on thematically similar but more modest titles, Survarium and Fear the Wolves.
