You are still waiting for the moment when a truly usable and affordable one will appear on the market modular smart phone? So one in which you can assemble better cameras, a larger battery or a more spacious memory at the expense of other components? The world has seen several similar projects, but none of them got into production properly. This is also because the interesting ones were bought by the giants and then the ground fell on the concepts. Let’s remember Project Ara, for example. However, the tempting principle has definitely not disappeared forever. Recent patent for example, it reveals that the custom modular phone is now being considered Chinese Xiaomi.

“Considering” in the case of a patent, of course, means that it can simply be a transfer of an idea to paper that never leaves the drawer. Even so, it is interesting to see what a phone made up of several editable parts might look like according to one of the world’s most popular brands. The theoretical modular telephone from the Xiaomi brand took the LetsGoDigital server for the sake of creating renderings and used the mentioned patent. From the documents and pictures it is clear that the mobile phone should have three separable parts. In the case of the upper one, you could choose a camera system in combination with a motherboard or RAM. The middle one then contains the battery and the bottom speakers and connectors. The latter is speculated to include an optional jack connector in one of the variations.
