With 80 million consoles sold, the Switch is more successful than 3DS -apkrig

Nintendo boasts the latest results and these are numbers that are a pleasure to look at. The success of the Switch can no longer be doubted even by the biggest scoundrels. A total of 79.87 million devices sold means that the hybrid console is even more successful than the 3DS handheld with 75.94 million systems sold. In the last quarter of 2020 alone, Nintendo sold 11.57 million Switches.

It is worth noting that the failed Wii U has only about 13.5 million devices sold. By contrast, Nintendo’s ranking of the most successful systems continues to be dominated by the Wii (101.6 million), Game Boy (118.7 million) and DS (154 million). Just before the Switch, the Game Boy Advance continues with 81.5 million consoles sold.

Also worth noting is a table in which Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad compares sales of other successful systems over the same period, which may indicate future developments. Titans like the PS2, PS4 and Wii have had fewer consoles than the Switch since the launch. Moreover, unlike the competition, the hybrid console did not enter the market before Christmas.

Interestingly, the Switch Lite accounted for 27 percent of Switch sales in the last quarter of 2020, and only this model will soon surpass “lifetime” Wii U sales.

The look into the table of the best-selling first party games is similarly impressive.

The best-selling games from Nintendo

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 33.41 million
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 31.18 million
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 22.85 million
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 21,45 milionu
Pokemon Sword / Pokemon Shield – 20,35 milionu
Super Mario Odyssey – 20.23 million
Super Mario Party – 13.82 million
Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! – 13 million
Splatoon 2 – 11.90 million
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 9.82 million

But newer games also did well. Luigi’s Mansion 3 already has 9.13 million copies sold, Ring Fit Adventure 8.68 million, Super Mario 3D All-Stars 8.32 million and Paper Mario: The Origami King over 3 million.

It will be very interesting to see whether and, if so, how the speculators will be affected by the more powerful and improved Switch Pro, the development of which, however, has not yet been officially confirmed by Nintendo. Undoubtedly, Nintendo has set out to stay on the market with one of the most successful platforms of all time for a good few more years. His representatives recently said that Switch is about halfway through its life cycle.
