Soro app: your Sonos speaker as an intercom
In 2020, Apple launched the intercom feature for the HomePod and HomePod mini. It’s a nice feature that allows you to quickly call your kids down or talk to your spouse without having to shout all over the house.
If you have a speaker from Sonos, you were out of luck. Because this speaker does not have an intercom function built in as standard. Until now, because with the Soro app you can provide the Sonos speaker with (among other things) an intercom function.
It’s just a pity that the app isn’t free. There is no subscription attached to it, but you do have to put 8.99 euros on the table once. You have to decide for yourself whether the app is worth it.

More new features for Sonos
The Soro app has been around for some time, but the intercom function is new. In addition to the new function, the app has many more nice additions for your Sono speaker. The app puts more functions in Siri and the Assignments app. For example, you can use Assignments to provide the Sonos speaker with more new functions.
The new features Soro has added to the Assignments app include:
- Set, delete or adjust alarm;
- Groups of multiple speakers;
- set volume;
- Play, stop and pause;
- set sleep timer;
- adjust equalizer settings;
- and much more …

Looking for a Sonos speaker: check out the Era 100 and 300
Don’t have a Sonos speaker yet, but are you looking? Then the Sonos Era 100 and Era 300 might be something for you. The Era 100 is the successor to the Sonos One, but with new hardware and software. The speaker is slightly larger than the One and has an improved design that should provide detailed stereo sound and deep bass.
You can see the Era 300 as the successor to the older Play:3. The speaker has a striking, hourglass-like shape, which is designed for optimal dispersion and direction of sound. Whether you like that is of course a matter of taste. In any case, the shape benefits the sound.
