These are the cheapest streaming services
In general, you choose streaming services based on the offer, but in these expensive times it is not a bad idea to also pay close attention to the price. The prices range from 2.50 euros to 15.99 euros per month. We give you the top 3 of the cheapest streaming services!
1) Amazon Prime Video
This number 1 of cheapest streaming services is somewhat surprising. When you view the website, you see that the subscription costs 2.99 euros per month. That is just a fraction more expensive than our number 2, for which you pay 2.95 euros per month.
You can also exit Amazon Prime Video from the App Store. If you do that, you only pay 2.49 euros per month, making this the cheapest streaming service without a doubt. You have to do without Prime delivery, which may be a reason to opt for the regular subscription.
Movies (1738 in total) listed on Amazon Prime Video include Moon, Groundhog Dag, Requiem For A Dream, Being John Malkovich, Saw, Inglorious Basterds, Inland Empire, The Lord Of The Rings, and The Big Lebowski. Incidentally, you can also rent films from the app, so always select the option ‘Free for me’ when searching to avoid disappointment.
2) NPO Plus
With a monthly fee of 2.95 euros, NPO Plus is without a doubt one of the cheapest streaming services in the Netherlands. And the streaming service’s offerings have grown considerably in recent years. You now get access to more than 70 series, more than 100 films and no fewer than 200 documentaries. Moreover, you can use NPO Plus in all EU countries.
A selection of the films that you can stream on NPO Plus: Parasite, Zero Dark Thirty, The Founder, War Winter, The Imitation Game, Brothers and Luizenmoeder.
3) Videoland Basic
For an amount of 4.99 per month you get access to all content (over 2400 titles) of the streaming service Videoland. You do have to deal with a few limitations. You will see commercials and you can only watch one screen at a time.
With Videoland Plus (8.99 euros) you no longer have any advertisements and you can watch on two screens at the same time, and with Videoland Premium (10.99 euros) you can watch on four screens at the same time.
These films can be viewed on Videoland: The Wolf Of Wall Street, V For Vendetta, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Hunger Games, Slumdog Millionaire and The Pianist.
Other streaming services (good, but not the cheapest)
Unfortunately, there are no streaming services where you can go for all content, as you do with Apple Music, for example. In general you can say that the more content you want, the more you have to pay. But that content is limited in all cases. We list the most important streaming services in the Netherlands for you:
- Amazon Prime Video (2.99 euros)
- NPO Plus (2.95 euros)
- Videoland Basic (4.99 euros)
- HBO Max Basic (5.99 euros)

- SkyShowtime (6.99 euros)
- Netflix Basic (7.99 euros)
