85 million euros in crypto stolen in new hack

A large crypto exchange was hacked and 85 million euros worth of Bitcoin and Ethereum were stolen.

Parking your crypto at an exchange office is not without risk. The safest thing is a hardware wallet that you have completely under your own management. You regularly hear that these kind of currency exchanges are victims of an attack and this time it is the case again. Liquid, the largest Japanese provider of crypto, is the victim of a hack.

According to analysts at Elliptic, the hackers have converted about 85 million euros in coins, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. In the meantime, Liquid is busy tracing the stolen cryptos. In addition, the company is working with other exchanges to freeze the stolen goods so that the hackers cannot get to it.

Liquid’s objective is to recover the stolen crypto as a result of this hack. The big question is, of course, whether they actually manage to pull this off. It is often the case that the crypto is lost and customers can whistle for their money. Liquid was founded in 2014 and operates in more than 100 countries.

It is the second time in a short time that a crypto exchange has fallen victim to a hack. A few days ago, Poly Network was hacked and $600 million in cryptocurrency was stolen. (via BBC)
