8 tips to keep your child busy without a screen

Do you want to clean, cook, finish work or simply have some time for yourself, but your child has been sitting in front of a screen for half a day? With a little creativity you can keep your child busy without a TV or telephone.

How? Check out the tips below.

trampoline

Okay, you have to have room for it, of course, but a trampoline is a great investment. What do you say yourself: as a child you didn’t like anything better in the past? Your child will also get tired of it – win win.

Let them help

Are you doing the laundry or cooking, let your child help. With washing the potatoes, for example. Or sorting the socks. A small side note: whether it is also done faster, we cannot promise you.

Listen to an audiobook

Reading aloud is fun, but of course you don’t always have your hands free. Get some nice audiobooks that you know your child likes. Drink, cup of chips and a blanket; bet your child is just as sweet?

Idea box

Make an idea box with your child. Then if there’s a day when they don’t have a clue what to do, they can just grab the idea box. You don’t get it any easier.

Build a hut

You probably know it from the past, how happy you were when you were allowed to build a hut out of sheets. Grab the sheets and let your kids build their own hut. When they are ready, they can play in it or have a picnic, for example. You don’t have to worry about it for an entire afternoon.

Puzzle

Give a puzzle as a gift for a birthday or for Sinterklaas, for example one with a drawing or photo that they like. And if you really want to keep your child busy for a long time, just choose a puzzle with many pieces ;).

Draw or paint

Let your child make a beautiful (paint) drawing for, for example, grandpa and grandma or for the teacher at school. Or have your child draw something they experienced.

Word games

Do you have a lot of clothes to iron, or are you cooking? Then play a word game with your child. For example, put a person in your head, and let your child ask questions to find out who it is. Or name as many names as possible that you can name with a certain letter.
