7 features that the iPhone 13 Pro really should have

September is getting closer and that means only one thing for Apple fans: new iPhones! In this iPhone 13 Pro wish list, we therefore publicly let Apple know which functions should not be missing. Do you agree?

Read on after the ad.

This is our iPhone 13 Pro wish list

First of all: in this article we fantasize aloud about the iPhone 13 Pro. In this article we therefore do not dwell on concrete rumors about the device, but we pass on our wish list to Apple. Whether the company listens to this remains to be seen.

1. Get rid of the notch

It’s high time Apple said goodbye to the notch. This notch, hated by many, has been a fixture since the iPhone X from 2017 and takes a big bite out of the iPhone screen.

He does this for a reason – after all, you have to get rid of the selfie camera and sensors for facial unlocking – but in 2021 Apple must have come up with something more stylish, right?

Moreover, the competition is not standing still. For example, many Android phones have a hole in the screen for the selfie camera, or a much smaller notch. Let’s hope Apple took notes.

2. Smooth screen…

While we’re on the subject of the screen, it can’t be otherwise than that the iPhone 13 Pro will get a ProMotion screen. Such a display refreshes pixels 120 times per second, instead of the current 60 times.

The result: much smoother animations. You notice this difference, for example, when scrolling through the settings or websites you visit. Competing Android phones have had a “smooth” screen for years, just like the iPad Pro. In short, Apple has run out of excuses for not giving iPhone a ProMotion screen.

3. …that never sleeps

We hope that the iPhone 13 Pro will not only compete with the iPad, but also with the Apple Watch. Apple’s watches have had an always-on display for years.

Such a screen – as you would expect – never ‘goes to sleep’. Instead, it always stays on in a (minimal and energy-efficient) way. That’s nice, because it allows you to always check important information, without having to unlock your iPhone. Think of the weather, an email, the time or your activity rings.

4. Under-screen fingerprint scanner (or Touch ID)

And we are not done with the screen in this iPhone 13 Pro wish list just yet. We hope that Apple will bring back the fingerprint scanner (Touch ID), but then under the screen. For example, you can unlock the device by placing your finger on the display. Android smartphones have had this option for years and this works very well in practice.

If that doesn’t work, we would like to see Touch ID in a different way. How? Well, for example in the iPad Air 2020 way. This tablet has Touch ID incorporated in the on/off button. So you unlock the Air tablet by resting your finger on the side button.

5. Everything for photographers

The entry-level iPhone and Pro iPhone have grown closer together in recent years. That is good news for people who have an iPhone 12, for example, because this phone is very similar to the iPhone 12 Pro, a device that is considerably more expensive.

That is where the problem is immediately: the Pro iPhones have gradually become less and less ‘Pro’. Let’s hope Apple changes this with the iPhone 13 Pro by making the device really with professionals in mind.

iphone 13 pro max camera rumor

The easiest way to do this is to bet full on the camera. For example, now the iPhone 12 (and iPhone 12 mini) has the same selfie, wide-angle, and ultra-wide-angle camera as the iPhone 12 Pro. The Pro iPhones do have a telephoto lens that allows you to zoom in without loss of quality, but the differences are not huge.

Perhaps Apple will solve this ‘problem’ by giving the iPhone 13 Pro (and iPhone 13 Pro Max) better cameras. For example, it would make sense that these devices both get optical image stabilization with sensor shift. This feature is currently reserved for the 12 Pro Max and makes photos look less jerky.

Let’s also hope that the iPhone 13 Pro cameras improve in quality, for example by adjusting the aperture so it can take better pictures during the dark. It would also be great if Apple could increase the optical zoom. Currently, the 12 Pro can optically zoom in twice; the iPhone 12 Pro Max goes up to 2.5 times.

6. Super fast charging…

Xiaomi has a first. The originally Chinese company has managed to charge a phone with 200 Watts of power. As a result, the (example) device is completely full within 8 minutes and after 3 minutes you already have enough power to be able to continue for hours.

Meanwhile, Apple claims that the iPhone can ‘fast charge’, but the device does not go faster than 20 Watts. Of course, the comparison with Xiaomi is not entirely valid – after all, it is a concept from the manufacturer – but you get the point. It’s high time Apple took steps in the field of fast charging, because once you’ve tasted this, you won’t want anything else.

Competing Android phones can now charge at speeds of between 30 and 60 Watts, so hopefully Apple will be able to find a connection. In our opinion, fast charging is one of the most underexposed functions for smartphones.

7. …And reverse charging

What should not be missing with the iPhone 13 Pro: reverse charging. This feature allows you to power other devices and accessories, such as AirPods, by placing them on the back of your phone.

Admittedly, this function is not very necessary. Reverse charging is usually quite slow and it is annoying that you cannot use your phone while charging. In some cases, however, it is useful to be able to charge your earbuds for a few minutes, so that you have music for a half-hour bus ride, for example.

iPhone 13 Pro release in September

That was our wish list for the iPhone 13 Pro. Whether Apple will fulfill the wishes will become clear this fall. According to rumors, the successors of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will be unveiled ‘just’ in September, like every year, with the exception of 2020.
