AirPods not working: here’s how to fix it

You put in your AirPods, start the music on your iPhone and enjoy! But then it is remarkably quiet. What is going on? Your AirPods suddenly stop working. Don’t worry, we’ll show you four ways to fix common issues with AirPods.

1. Check the AirPods battery and case

Place both AirPods in the case. Open the box near your iPhone and wait until you see the battery status on your iPhone’s screen. Check if the battery is not empty, either in the case or your AirPods.

Your AirPods won’t charge? Then it may be that there is dirt in the box, where the AirPods are charged. Then grab a cotton swab or cocktail stick to clean the contacts in the charging box. Also check the contacts on the stem of the AirPods and clean them well.

2. Check the bluetooth connection

Check if you have not accidentally turned off Bluetooth on your iPhone. Tap ‘Settings > Bluetooth’. Check if the button at the top is on. Also open the case of your AirPods and see if the AirPods are connected to your iPhone. Are they not connecting? Then try to reset your AirPods. You can read how to do that in step 4.

3. Thoroughly clean the AirPods

When there is a lot of dirt and grime in the AirPods, problems can also arise and they sometimes don’t work. That is why it is good to give the AirPods a good cleaning. You can read how to do that best in the article below.

Buy AirPods

Are your AirPods no longer working and are they really broken? Or are you just ready for an upgrade? Then you first have to decide which AirPods you want to buy. The AirPods Pro and Pro 2 have noise canceling (noise reduction). The AirPods 1, AirPods 2, and AirPods 3 don’t.

So are you looking for noise-canceling earplugs? Then we recommend the AirPods Pro 2. Want the latest Apple earbuds for a lower price? Then choose the AirPods 3.
