Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: Underground Map & Underground Armor

In the Hyrule underground, an additional map opens up for you to explore in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. However, it is pitch dark underground, so orientation is not that easy. In this guide we have prepared a complete map for you and also show you the locations of the underground armor.

Complete underground map

You reach the underground via chasms that you find on the surface. The underground map is the same size as the surface, so there’s a lot to explore. There are 120 Roots of Light underground that will illuminate a nearby area when activated. In addition, they serve as teleportation points. It is therefore advisable to visit every root that you can see from afar.

With a map, your search will be much easier. That’s why you’ll find a complete map below that tells you the locations of all 120 Light Roots.

More tips to help you find your way underground

Below we list what else we noticed while exploring the underground. These tips might help you too.

  • The Roots of Light and the Shrines on the surface are in the same place on the map. And that’s no coincidence. If you read the names of the shrines backwards, you get the names of the Lightroots. So you can use already discovered shrines as a guide to get to new roots of light.
  • When exploring uncharted areas underground, you must use glow seeds to light up a small area. Don’t forget that you don’t necessarily have to grab the luminous seeds by an arrow, but you can also just throw them (hold R + D-pad up). You can often find glow seeds in caves.
  • You can also mount Glow Seeds on a vehicle that you use to explore the underground.
  • Use the numerous chasms on the surface to unlock different entrances to the underground. There is almost always a Light Root near a chasm.
  • Since the roots glow, you can see them from afar. So if you come from an abyss you should use the height and mark all the roots nearby. Otherwise, it is always a good idea to build a hot air balloon to get an overview.

What happens if I enable all roots?

If you manage to reach all 120 roots, you first uncover the map of the underground completely. In addition, you will receive the item “Lightbringer Order”after activating the final root. You can’t do anything with that. It’s just a badge of your achievement.
