YouTube brings dedicated podcast tab to channels

YouTube is going to add a new tab to channels. It’s about the ‘Podcasts’ tab, and as the name suggests, channels can upload their podcasts here. This should make it easier to find podcasts and it should improve YouTube’s position in ‘podcast platform land’.

A podcast here, a podcast there

You can listen to podcasts almost anywhere these days. From Spotify to Podimo and from Apple Music to YouTube, you can’t miss them. Now you can indeed listen to the latter podcast, but also watch it. Some channels that have their own podcast also film their podcast. They then put the video of this on YouTube and this allows you, as a creator, to throw an extra ‘layer’ over your podcast. In addition to just hearing the audio, you can make a podcast audiovisual in this way.

New podcast tab

Still, you notice a bit that YouTube is not entirely made for podcasts. For example, the videos of these appear among the ‘regular’ videos and can be difficult to find this way. After all, you have to manually search for an episode or show and/or scroll through all shared videos. Some creators respond to this by creating a separate channel for their podcast.

However, integrating podcasts for channels is about to get easier. YouTube is going to integrate a special podcast tab for channels. Creators must indicate themselves when uploading and mark that it is a podcast. Together with this previous feature, YouTube should become more accessible to podcasts with this. The feature is still being tested, but will soon be officially announced internationally. So reports 9to5Google. It first appears for the app and web version, later it should also come to YouTube Music.

Video podcast and availability

By adding images to your podcast, you can make it visual. In addition, it can also be fun – or a little shocking – for listeners because they get a face to the voice that they could only hear before.
