YouTube ads cause even longer interruptions

YouTube ads are interrupting the video stream more and more frequently. Reddit users report up to ten clips that cannot be skipped.

Usually, users have to show a bit of patience before they can watch a YouTube video. As a rule, the advertising appears right at the beginning of a stream.

However, if content creators allow it, commercials can also interrupt a video in between. These forced pauses can last between a few seconds and several minutes.

YouTube ad shows more than ten clips

In recent months, however, YouTube users have increasingly noticed that the amount of advertising on the streaming platform has increased significantly. The online magazine reports 9to5Google.

In multiple threads on Reddit users report immense commercial breaks in longer videos. Every few minutes, users have to wait because of YouTube advertising. Some posts even talk about it up to ten clips successively.

What bothers those affected the most is that the YouTube ad cannot be skipped.

Premium account as a solution to advertising problem

So far there has been no official confirmation from YouTube that the increased advertising is intended. The Twitter account responded to a user’s complaint TeamYouTube however, that the advertising clips are so-called bumper ads.

It remains unclear whether the streaming platform has a clear intention behind the increased advertising. However, the more frequent advertising clips could prompt users to consider the premium account of the streaming service.

YouTube posted one last year advertising revenue of around 28.9 billion US dollars. In addition, the video streaming service counted around 50 million in 2021 Premium users worldwide.

This allows users to bypass YouTube ads

There is one though Trick, how users can avoid YouTube advertising. All you have to do is change the URL. With a simple dot before the slash, clicked videos now run directly and without advertising.

But be careful: This trick opens a subpage on YouTube. This means that registered users are automatically logged out and can no longer comment or rate the videos. In addition, they cannot create a playlist for the content.
