Your old BlackBerry is now really ripe for the trash
In the new year, a BlackBerry is of little use. Enjoy the last days together with the device.
Everything comes to an end. Also to support the now prehistoric BlackBerry. Admit it. In 2009, 2010, and 2011, at least five people in your class had a BlackBerry. Maybe you had one yourself. The business-like yet uniquely designed phones had as unique selling point (USP) that you could chat with each other via BlackBerry Messenger (BBM). From 2013, this feature also went to iOS and Android, but once with the rise of WhatsApp, BBM no longer had the right to exist.
The BlackBerry itself was also slowly dying. Feel free to call the museum if you see someone walking around with such a thing. They are rare on the streets. The company has now also announced that it will really pull the plug. On January 4, BlackBerry will stop supporting calling, sending text messages and access to mobile data. Basically, the phones become useless. This concerns BlackBerry devices that run on OS 10 and OS 7.1 and older.
Is that bad? Yes, for that one person who still uses a BB. The rest of the world has switched to Android and iOS. (via Liliputing)
