You will no longer be able to sync your Fitbit with your PC or Mac
Do you often use your Fitbit with your PC or Mac? Then the company has bad news for you. Soon it will no longer be possible to perform the synchronization between Fitbit and Mac/PC. The Fitbit Connect app is disappearing.
Fitbit Connect app
It is a huge switch for certain Fitbit users, because this means that, for example, locally stored music can no longer be synced. The Fitbit Connect app is going to disappear now that almost everyone owns a smartphone.
If you want to use the Connect App on Windows 10 and Mac OS X, you can download it here (at the very bottom). Fitbit writes: “If you don’t have a compatible phone or tablet, you can set up most Fitbit devices on your computer and sync with Fitbit Connect. Fitbit Connect is a free software application that allows your Fitbit device to sync its data with your fitbit.com dashboard. If your computer doesn’t have Bluetooth, you’ll need to use a wireless sync dongle to set up and sync your Fitbit device.”
Sync music
On October 13, the ability to sync your Fitbit wearable to your computer via the Fitbit Connect app will disappear. The app will be deactivated that day, which means that you can no longer use it if you have already downloaded it earlier. You will therefore have to surrender to a smartphone (Android or iOS) to continue using your wearable.
That’s annoying, but it’s also not nice not to be able to sync your local music later. Fitbit notes: “On October 13, 2022, we’ll be removing the option to transfer playlists from your computer to your Fitbit watch. You can continue to play personal music stored on your watch and transfer music to your watch using the Deezer app and the Pandora app.”
Alternative streaming services
That is far from ideal. After all, most people use other streaming services, such as Spotify or YouTube Music. On the other hand, there are solutions, but the question is whether they suit you completely.
