Special Edition AirPods Pro: Year of the Tiger

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, Apple is releasing a special edition of the AirPods Pro. You can recognize this version by the (cute) tiger on the MagSafe charging case. In addition to the special packaging, the AirPods Pro are also similar to the standard Pro earbuds that you can buy from Apple.

The Chinese New Year starts on February 1, 2022 and each year is dedicated to an animal. This year it’s the tiger’s turn. The tiger is the third animal in the twelve-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.

These special AirPods Pro will cost you 1,999 Hong Kong dollars and they are only officially available in several Asian countries, including China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Apple previously released a special version of the AirPods Pro. This was last year when the Chinese New Year ushered in the Year of the Ox. This version then had a special ox emoji on the charging case.

Engraving Emoji: Your Own Special Edition of the AirPods Pro

It has been possible for some time to engrave a combination of emoji, text and numbers in your AirPods at Apple. You can create your own special edition of the AirPods Pro this way. But the tiger emoji of this special edition AirPods Pro is unfortunately not among them.

In short: the AirPods Pro

The AirPods Pro are a high-end alternative to the AirPods. One of the most important features of the AirPods Pro is the active noise cancellation, or noise canceling. As soon as you turn on this mode, ambient noise is filtered out, so that you can completely lose yourself in the music.

Furthermore, the AirPods Pro also have a Transparency mode. When you turn this on, you can continue to listen to music, but you can also hear background noise. This is useful (and safe) when you use the AirPods Pro in traffic, for example.
